About
The idea of starting Vagabond Motorcycle Tours of Argentina was conceived in 2017 when Nicholas Botta, an endurance rider from San Vicente, Santa Fe, Argentina, was only 27 years old. That year Nico embarked on an epic 30,000 mile, 14 country, motorcycle camping trip starting in Key West, Florida, across the USA to Canada then Alaska and back to Argentina. He completed this ride on his trusty 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster “The Alaskan.” That incredible journey would take him 6 long months.
After returning home, Nico would be recognized as one of the top endurance riders and adventurers from his area of Argentina. Subsequently, a human interest story for television was made about Nico’s journey, including a television news story and radio podcasts.
It was on that trip in Key West, Florida, that Nico would meet his friend and future business partner, Troy Bensinger. Troy is a lifelong adventurer who has traveled over 300,000 miles by motorcycle. He’s been a photojournalist and a writer for motorcycle publications since 2012. The two guys struck up a conversation about their passion for motorcycle camping and long distance riding despite a language barrier. They began riding together just hours after that chance meeting. Nico and Troy would end up traveling together for over 5,000 miles in the United States that summer.
For several years, the two guys worked together to grow their business plan. During that time, Troy began learning Spanish and Nico began learning English. Finally in 2022, Troy visited Nico in Argentina and rode the warmer northern portion of the country with Nico’s guidance. While experiencing the country, the two were able to begin hard core planning and Vagabond Motorcycle Tours of Argentina was born. The two began paving the way for their customers and personally designed the routes they would travel.
Providing life-changing tours for our clients is our number one goal. Nothing is left to chance- all of our tours are meticulously prepared and organized in orderto allow you to completely open your senses to the environments through which you will travel. Nico knows all the best roads and interesting places, which make for some incredible daily field trips. We’ll even take you to shopping districts and restaurants where native people bring their trades, cuisine, and time-honored traditions to life. Troy will use his photography skills to provide group and individual photos for our customers on a daily basis. You will be able to enjoy the landscape and leave the photography to a professional at no extra charge. You never have to worry about hauling your bulky camping gear on our tours, setting up or repacking the following morning. All of that is done by our staff and transported in our chase van. We even offer two nights of tent camping on our North tours, not just hostels. When tent camping with us, your steaks are prepared in traditional Argentine style, over an open fire by our personal chef.
Security and guidance is of the utmost importance when traveling by motorcycle in a foreign country, especially if you don’t actually speak the language. We help you with language barriers, currency exchange, or even applying for your passports/visas and travelers insurance. You are never left alone while visiting Argentina for your motorcycle tour. From the very moment your plane touches down, our team is there and ready to serve your needs. We even escort our customers back to the airport when the tour comes to an end.
Our group sizes are small- hosting smaller groups cultivates a true exclusive experience unmatched by any of our larger competitors. We can build the perfect motorcycle tour for individuals and groups both. We host riders of any skill level or sex, but all riders must be at least 18 years of age and sign a waiver. Our guided trips are totally inclusive- motorcycle rentals, gas, hostels, meals and even alcoholic drinks are included in our price- and start at $3,500 usd. We can even help you arrange and purchase your international plane tickets (priced separately based upon the airline and itinerary). All you need to bring is your motorcycle riding gear to keep you safe and comfortable plus a little pocket money for souvenirs.
Combined Troy and Nicholas have traveled over 500,000 miles on two wheels and spent years of their lives camping under the stars. Together they make a dynamic and reliable team.
